Pumpkin Patch 2010

We made our annual trip to the pumpkin patch today and it's amazing the difference a year makes in the life of a child! Last year he was a crawler so we had to carry him or pull him in the wagon the whole time. This year, we would have had a serious melt-down on our hands if we had tried to contain him that way. There were cut-outs to see (many of his favorite cartoon characters were there), a hay-bale maze to run through, pumpkins to pick up, and a bounce house that he actually attempted this year. I'm just gonna post all the pictures, adding a comment here or there, but mostly this post will be pictures. I can only imagine what trouble he'll get into NEXT year at the pumpkin patch!

Visiting with the Little Einsteins and Clifford

 Hi Mommy!

Having fun in the hay-bale maze.

 A farm boy at heart.

More friends from the Disney Channel and PBS.

Boo! I was showing him how to do this, but he still refused.

He loves finding people's noses...apparently the scarecrow needed some help too.

This was the first time he's been brave enough to get in a bounce house and have fun!

 Hay rack ride!!

He got so excited when I said Nemo was there. Seriously, he loves this fish.

He wasn't a big fan of riding in the wagon, but after getting out to pet the horse he was more than happy to "help Daddy" pull the wagon along. He's got his parents' independent streak already, oh dear!

Just Like Daddy

This afternoon we were tidying up the backyard (mowing the alley, scooping poop, trimming branches, etc) and Garrett found a creative way to be just like Daddy. It's a big game of "Monkey See, Monkey Do" these days! PS: When I say "we" were tidying up, I really mean Russ. I help pick up sticks and tidy up the patio, but he does the manly work. And he looks so cute doing it!

Texas State Fair 2010!!

Starting off our day at the Fair! Gotta have the shades.

This was probably my favorite part of the fair (at least where Garrett's concerned). It was a little farm where Garrett would "pick" vegetables and "feed" the fake chickens. He even got to "milk" a cow. Then after he collected all these crops/produce he got paid a dollar to spend in the store they had set up. He bought cheetos and thoroughly enjoyed every bite.

At the petting zoo--he got to feed some of the animals. He wasn't so sure about the giraffe or the camel but he loved the goats!

Garrett decided the fountain looked inviting and ran straight into it. At first he was upset about being soaked but then he went back for more. And Grandma spurred him on.

Going for a walk around the lagoon.

I have to explain these last few pictures. We had some tickets left and decided to use them on a funnel cake. I was holding it and Garrett decided to run into my legs at the exact same moment I was trying to hand it off to my mom. So the funnel cake went flying, I somehow caught it, but ALLLL the powdered sugar landed on Garrett. I braced myself for a meltdown since he was tired and we had been at the fair for so long, but all he did was laugh! He thought it was fun! I couldn't even wipe him down for a minute or two since I was laughing so hard. Our "sweet" little boy...
