Stinky stinky stinky!!!

Heat Wave and Bling

Saturday was SO beautiful here in Dallas that we had to get out of the house as a family and enjoy it. We wound up at White Rock Lake for a picnic lunch and soaked up the wonderful 75-degree sunshine. I'm going to think back fondly on this day over the next week as the temps drop to 20ish here in the metroplex and people are driving like maniacs on the icy streets. I'll miss you, heat wave, so so much. :(

BUT at least I have a funny little guy to make me smile through my chattering teeth. He found some Happy New Year necklaces while I was cleaning my desk (it was loooong overdue for some organization) and put them all on, plus my headband. It was quite a sight to behold. As you'll see. :) He's lucky I didn't take pictures of him from earlier this morning when he was a total crab. We have a super-cute toddler but when he's throwing a fit for no apparent reason...not as cute. Just a fact. But we love him. More and more each day. :)

Lucy made herself right at home on Garrett's lap during the drive to the lake. Garrett thought it was awesome. (Or at least he did for a little while!)

Oh, how impossible it is to get a 2 year old (almost!) to hold still for a picture with his mommy when all he wants to do is RUN.

Ditto that last comment but replace "Mommy" with "Daddy."

Bling bling!!

You can't tell here, but he's "taking my picture" with a random little remote control. He kept saying "Cheese!" the exact same way I say it to him.

Checking his pretend messages, I'm sure. Or playing Angry Birds. :)

Yay! I got him to hold semi-still for a picture with me! If only I had showered...

Half-Naked Runaway

Well, if that title didn't get your attention then you have become seriously desensitized to crazy headlines. Ha!

Garrett is learning new things right and left these days. He can say more words, including "please, blue, and stinky." I love hearing him say stinky because he pinches his nose just like I taught him. This is what caused his half-naked escape the other day. I realized as I walked past him in the living room that he had made a smelly deposit in his diaper. So I asked, "Garrett...do you have a stinky diaper?" And he repeated the word stinky several times for me. Then I quickly changed his stinky behind and as I was reaching for the fresh new diaper he made a run for it! He immediately ran for his play shopping cart and climbed on in. I guess the cold plastic on his rear end didn't bother him because he stayed like that for as long as I let him. Boys...you just never know what will happen next. :)

Stinky!!

These pictures are only funny when you know that he's smiling so big because he has no diaper on.

Illinois Christmas 2010

The Wednesday before Christmas we woke up bright (dark, actually) and early to hit the road for Illinois. 13 hours later we arrived in my snow-covered hometown. It was a fantastic trip from start to finish. There was much cookie baking, cookie eating, playing, snowing, present unwrapping and hugging. I didn't take very many pictures so this is an abbreviated version of our Christmas. My dad took waaaaaaay more pictures than I did, so maybe after I get those pictures from him I'll repost or add some more. Maybe. We got home last night--New Year's Eve. I did not make it to midnight last night, but we did see the ball drop in New York's time zone, so that counts. Thanks, Mom and Dad, for a special vacation and much time spent with you. Garrett loved visiting and can't wait until we're all together again!! Happy New Year everyone!

Before the cookie cutting/decorating began. (The aprons were a birthday present for Grandma back in October.)

Having fun with Grandma and Grandpa. He's a master of the sprinkles!!

Christmas Eve...Lucy loves all the extra attention she gets when we visit my family.

Opening up some presents from Uncle Nate and Aunt Krista. Hello Mr. Potato Head!

Christmas morning...early. :) Garrett may not understand the concept of Christmas just yet but he somehow has the waking-up-way-too-early part down pat.

Garrett loves his Daddy's new slippers!

Uncle Bob's turn to give Lucy a welcoming lap. (I think he may be her favorite...he actually let her sleep right on top of him. She loves being spoiled!)

Some sister self-portraits. Of course. Plus Lucy's ear.

Biblical training 101...Garrett was obsessed with climbing onto the toilet (seat down thankfully!) and pulling out the little Bible from the basket. Then he would sit and "read" it. Turning pages and everything. Notice his Grandma's socks on his feet too. He got into her closet and pulled those on. At least it wasn't underwear!!!!
