Memorial Day Weekend

Last weekend Russ and I took Garrett on what will probably be the first of many adventures to see battlefields with his history-fan Daddy. :-) We drove down to Richmond and spent the day driving/walking around some different Civil War sites. Here are a couple of pics at the Cold Harbor battlefield site. Daddy liked the history. Garrett liked sitting on the cannon. Mommy liked visiting the SuperTarget on the way back home. Everybody wins!!

Mother's Day

Mother's Day was special for two reasons this year. #1 is pretty obvious--I'm actually a MOM this year! Garrett got me the book "Are You My Mother?" and a cute card. Isn't he a sweet 3-month old? The second reason this year was special was our visitor--MY mom! Grandma enjoyed watching her grandson while we were working and we even twisted her arm so that she'd babysit while we went on a date. :-) She got to witness the rolling over for the first time and she also got to see Garrett get dedicated to the Lord on Mother's Day. Here are just a few pictures from our fun (but TOO SHORT!) time together.

We have achieved "roll over"

This evening I was in the kitchen, putting away the dishes when I hear both my dear wife and mother-in-law scream. I come running in to make sure everything is okay. Apparently, Garrett had pushed his body up and nearly over . . . and then fell back to where he started. He nearly completed the highly anticipated "roll over". At this point Deanna, Julie, Lucy and I continued to cheer him on as he tried to get up again. Actually Lucy was just excited because the rest of us were excited and tried to lick the little guy. I pulled her away so Garrett could focus on the task at hand and not worry about fighting off the tongue of his psycho puppy dog. And then he did it! Next thing we knew he was on his back grinning at us. He soaked up the applause as the four of us cheered (and Lucy continued to lick). Victory!!! On to the next milestone :)

3 Month Picture

Our little man turned 3 months old yesterday...can you believe it? He's changing so much every day and growing all the time. I'm home sick today with a cold/sinus thing that won't let me breathe through my nose or sleep comfortably so I decided to go ahead and post the newest pictures. Then I'll nap. Hopefully. :-) The top picture is his 2 month picture and the 3 month picture is below it so you can see the differences in just a few weeks time.

PS: Are you noticing a theme with Garrett's clothing choices???

Our Little Draft Pick

NFL Draft Day is a big deal in the Wells household. At least it is for me. It is now also a big deal for Garrett!!!! Check him out in his "Future 1st Round Draft Pick" shirt. Clearly, he was as excited for every Dallas Cowboy pick as I was (whether he realized it or not). For the record -- I was extremely pleased with the Cowboys draft. They got a bunch of good character guys who can get down the field and hit people. Go Dallas!!!

Shot Day

We survived the first round of immunizations this morning. Garrett did really well and showed off his vocal capabilities for all the nurses. :-) He ate soon after they put the blue camo band-aids on his legs and then fell right to sleep...which is what he's doing right now and why I can type this with both hands! Here are a few pictures from today. Two are before and one is after. See if you can figure out which is which. Oh, and I almost forgot to list his latest stats. He is 11 lbs 14 oz and 25 inches long. Yes, 25!! He's in the 50th percentile for all measurements except his height which is off the charts. You know he didn't get that from me!! Altogether it was a good Dr. visit and we are extremely blessed to have such a sweet and healthy little boy. God is good!

Back to Work

This is week number two of being a working mommy. I don't have to tell you fellow mommies just how difficult it is to leave my baby for an entire school day. Thankfully our wonderful friend Sherry is caring for him which is SO much better (for Garrett and for my peace of mind/heart) than putting him in daycare for even just the couple of months I'll wind up working. He's doing pretty well adjusting to our different schedule so far and I really do enjoy my job and my students. So here are a couple of pictures from this last weekend. We had fun playing SuperBaby and shopping at the mall. Say a little prayer for us on Thursday morning as Garrett gets his 1st round of shots--ouch!! I hope neither of us cries too much.

Happy Easter from the Wells Family!

It was a wonderful family Easter. Garrett once again let us get a good night sleep. We went to the early church service. Garrett let Deanna hang out for most of the worship service too! We enjoyed Sunday Brunch. Although a little windy, it was a beautiful Spring day and we took advantage of it with this picture. Deanna and I are looking forward to watching the "Passion of the Christ" movie tonight as we celebrate God's love for us -- the real meaning of this wonderful holiday!
