Easter 2011

Well, I was worried about how the weather would cooperate for our Easter Egg Hunt this year. But the rain held off until later in the day and Garrett was able to hunt to his heart's content. :) Grandad and Daddy hid the eggs outside before he woke up so we were able to surprise him with them after everyone else was up and showered. He loved saying "Egg! Egg!" whenever he found one. Grammy had also brought along a couple of hula hoops as presents for Aunt Hillary and me. Hillary is a rockstar hula-hooper. I, on the other hand, couldn't hula hoop to save my life. Ask my parents. They still have a VHS video of me before my preschool graduation attempting to hula hoop for the camera. Two shakes of the hips and that thing hits the ground. Every. Single. Time. :) But we've had fun playing other games with the hula hoops. For example, Garrett seems to think we can go to space inside of them. And so we do. :) All in all, we had a great Easter morning, worship service at church and a yummy brunch out at Ziziki's. Thank You Jesus, for saving us, and doing so in such a sacrificial way. Happy Easter!

Hula Hoop Time!

Coloring the Easter Eggs

The little man had a lot of fun coloring the Easter eggs this year...didn't want to STOP...but I had only hard-boiled a dozen so eventually he ran out of things to dye. :) Even though I'm excited to see him hunting for eggs tomorrow morning, I think I'm more looking forward to next year's Easter season because he'll be at a better age for hearing the real Easter story and why we celebrate at all. Don't get me wrong, I love a Reese's Peanut Butter Egg as much as the next person. But I don't want to let this holiday get glossed over for our kids. Back to the present day now...tomorrow should be a fun day of hunting for eggs and remembering our Savior. I'm trying to savor the stage that Garrett's in right now and not rush him into growing up. He'll only be two once

Wordless Wednesday

Bluebonnets

Last year I didn't get to take any of the obligatory bluebonnet pictures that it seems every momma in Texas takes of her children each year. I waited too long and then they were gone. :( BUT this year I was determined to get Garrett out to a nearby field of these lovely flowers. The little man wasn't very interested in posing, except for a couple of "cheese" faces that he only held for a second, but at least he'll have some pictures to prove he was Texan even at a young age. :)

Hooray for Little Rock!

That title should really say "Hooray for Caterpillar Sending Uncle Nate and Aunt Krista to Little Rock So We Can See Them Way More Often Because We Miss Them and They're Awesome!" But that seemed a little wordy to me. :)

Krista was on spring break this last week and was able to come spend a few days of it with us here in Dallas. This was a huge blessing for two reasons. #1: We love her. #2: This was one of Russ's busiest/most-stressful/most-sleep-deprived/craziest weeks this semester. So it was very nice for Garrett and I to have a distraction to keep US busy and not thinking how we missed spending time with Daddy. We went shopping for wedding dresses (for our baby brother's upcoming nuptials) and played outside a lot. It was nice to just relax and spend time together, not trying to cram in a bunch of outings. So here are a few pics of our fun times together.
