Rooting for the Aggies

Hillary made sure that Garrett was sufficiently dressed to root on the Aggies during their opening round March Madness game on Thursday. I think all the maroon-wearing in our house worked as Texas A&M triumphed over BYU (for the second year in a row -- sorry Leah)!!! Unfortunately, as I type this, A&M is about five minutes away from elimination at the hands of Memphis. Oh well . . .

Garrett meets Aunt Hillary

My sister Hillary came to town during her Spring Break from her senior year at Texas A&M to meet her first nephew. Unfortunately, the video does not capture the huge man-belch he ripped as soon as their eyes met -- love at first site I think.

Lucy and Garrett

Well, Lucy didn't know what to make of Garrett at first. Of course, with all of our company to start with, she wasn't starved for attention. She immediately became very protective of her little brother. This is one of her regular "posts" -- on the boppy pillow, immediately under his butt while sleeping or nursing.
Tummy time for Garrett is Tummy Time for Lucy as well apparently.
We do think she is jealous of Garrett, just as we heard was normal for dogs. But it's not an angry jealousy. Instead, she has become even more pitiful than before. She always has to be in a lap or right up next to someone.

We try to tell her that the baby blankets are not for her. But she disagrees and still finds a way to make it hers as well, as seen in this picture. We can't wait to see what trouble Lucy and Garrett get into together in the not-so-distant future!

Tummy-Time

For some reason, Garrett decided to not showoff his skills whenever the camera was on. He's still stinkin cute though!

The Generational Picture

Three generations of Wells men hanging out together! In a few weeks, Garrett gets to meet his great-grandfather and we will take a picture of four generations.

Meeting the Grandparents

Garrett had a wonderful time with his grandparents. They decided that he is a keeper :) For four day my Mom and Dad held their first grandchild around the clock. Deanna and I really appreciated the extra rest from them taking the night shifts. They also played babysitter for a night while we went out for a dinner-date. Garrett has now met both sets of grandparents -- aunts and uncles and great grandparents to come!!

One Month!!

Yesterday was Garrett's 1 month birthday and to celebrate we took more pictures of him next to his Airborne bear. He really doesn't like getting his picture taken yet...can you tell? And before anyone asks, no we don't know how much he weighs or how tall he is now. The Army hospital doesn't require a 1-month check-up, just a 2-week and a 2-month. So next month we can give everyone an update on his stats. I tried putting him on the bathroom scale but he was so squirmy the weight kept changing. Maybe I'll take him to the grocery store and weigh him like a bunch of bananas. Ha! Anyway, Mike and Nancy are here for their first visit with their grandson and it's been fun for all but I'm going to let Russ post those pictures.

Warning: Crying Ahead

Sleep??

I vaguely remember what real sleep is. It has been exchanged for power naps taken whenever possible. Garrett was doing great in the sleep department until the last couple nights when he has been wide awake from 7pm until 2am and HUNGRY! He wants to eat nonstop. Thus the power naps. It's a good thing he's cute or those 1am feedings would be much much more frustrating. :-) Anyway, here are some of the latest pictures. I went a bit snap-happy yesterday. He's now 3 weeks old and I love the crazy faces he makes!

We Love the Swing

Wide Eyed Sunday

Happy Valentine's Day

In this picture Garrett and I display our Valentine's Day surprise for Deanna. Deanna said that she just wanted Papa Johns pizza. So I had a heart-shaped pizza delivered. When the pizza arrived I brought out the flowers, balloons, present, and candy hearts and decorated the table (previously safely hidden in the man cave bathroom). Garrett did help with the big secret plan. He timed his fussiness and diaper bombs at the perfect time to keep Deanna sufficiently occupied as I set everything up -- we're a good team.

Garrett also had a special Valentine's Day present for Dad. He gave me the largest diaper deposit that I had ever changed -- it was a doozy.
